The packaging and instructions were very clear (And came in many languages).
Installation was fairly straight forward. Took me about 45 minutes to complete the installation. You’ll need a Marine Sealant for the screws when you attach the tranducer and may want to have some for where you the cord into the boat. You’ll also need a a couple of drill bits and a drill to drill the pilot holes and the hole to run the wire through (unless you already have a method to get the wire inside the boat.
I was able to run the wire from the back of the boat around to the console where it is mounted pretty easily and was able to connect the power with a few crimp connectors. The mount was simple and looks very sleek with simple adjustments of swivel and tilt.
The depth finder it self was very easy to set-up. Just a few selections from the menu and it was ready to go. I’m on a fairly shallow lake (under 40 feet deep) so I am not able to confirm it’s ability at deep depth. But the radar kept up with the boat very well at high speeds (20+ MPH). I like the way the scale auto updates and does it very smoothly. The temperature read out provides a fast adjustment as you are moving along as well.
There is a feature I liked that will turn the potential fish into a fish icon with the depth they are at, allowing less for interpretation. It’s a very simple on off from the menu so you can try it either way. It’s nice to know the finder think there is a fish and it’s 8.9 feet deep to get a feel for how deep you are looking.
There are a few other features from the menu that I’m still working with to see how much I like it. You can turn on or off the noise on the bottom or top. You can have a depth flat line added to the screen to measure against the various contours and there is a low bottom warning that can be set to go off at 3 ft and under.
One last feature that I underestimated, it is very easy to detach and take with you or put in a glover compartment box for safe keeping. The monitor just pops off with a simple depression of a lever / bar on the back of the mount so you can take it with at any time quickly.
Overall I am very happy with the depth finder. The price point of under $250 seemed to be the best I could find on the market. I’d recommend this for someone looking for a lower cost unit with a good decent amount of features that get’s the job done.
