Replacement bulbs cost approx. $50.00 each and no substitution is available because of unique base.
Paint on housing does not hold up to marine environment that light is expected to operate in.
If you feel the need, use hand held led searchlight.

I have had several of these on different boats, ability to control the light totally from within the helm and out of the weather is great, especially if you are caught in rough weather and seas. Plenty of power and visibility, easy to use and high quality.
I have friends that have bought the cheaper, lower quality versions and regretted their decision.
Go with the best and be safe.
