The Whistler Remote Controlled, High Performance WGPX-650 has a 3.5 inch non-glare, color TFT LCD touch screen with turn by turn directions with both audible and visual prompts to get you where you are going easily and safely. The Whistler mapping software (preloaded on a removable SD/MMC card) shows detailed maps of U.S. and Canada (including U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico) cities, streets, and millions of special points of interest. Features include: Remote Contolled, 266 MHZ processor, WAAS enabled (Wide Area Augmented System for more accuracy in coatal areas) Additional features include a Speed Alert which alerts when speed limit is exceeded and a Programmable “Home” Button which automatically maps a route to home from your current location. Perfect, the screen is wide enough for me to read ( I like to read and listen) not small like one of the Garmin GPS, I received it a few days ago, set up was easy as 1-2-3 no comp. downloads, it was ready to go. I hooked it up and arrived at my location perfectly. I did not use the remote because I was driving alone, but I am sure it is a useful addition. GO WHISTLER

August 25, 2011Whistler unit is a must have unit!!!,
I have had this unit for several months but did not really put it to maximum use until this past week. For a two thousand mile, eight city trip, it worked flawlessly. I did learn I need to put in my preferences. After that I was one happy traveler. Pulling into a north Chicago suburb late at night without a room reservation, I tried the points of interest feature for the first time. I selected a motel, it took me straight there without having drive forever looking or reading a map at night. This unit more than paid for itself on this one trip. Another feature I liked was pulling off the road and driving into a town I was not familiar with. After looking around for a while, I switched the unit back on, it replotted my route and got me out of town and on my way in no time. I am buying a unit for my wife and one for my daughter. These are no longer toys but a have to have for safety and convenience.
