March 10, 2015Great images, good chartplotter,
A more detailed manual might be important to some users. The one supplied (in 13 languages) asks the user to work through the screens to find a lot of the features and options on his own.
I would say this is an extremely good unit for the fisherman/cruiser.
Update: I just printed an excellent owners manual from the Raymarine web site, 96 pages of highly detailed information.

Install: not bad. just like any other installation. hardest part is always getting the wires where they need to go.
Transducer: it is HUGE! but after several fishing trips and banging around stumps and rocks, it is still attached and working perfectly.
Screen: AMAZING! the resolution on this thing is incredible. The first time I had it out on the water, my buddy and I just watched the screen below showing the fish. It is so much clearer than my 998si. Yes, it’s smaller, but the way it is stretched horizontally makes it just fine. Coming from a big 998, I was a little worried about the screen size. But I really am ok with it after using it. It is so clear, you don’t need as big of a screen. The 2D chart is simply unmatched. If you haven’t read the specifics about how this works, you should. Where Humminbird & Lowrance only use 2 different frequencies and mix the results together, this Dragonfly uses the entire spectrum of frequencies between the high and the low to create STUNNING CLARITY! Seriously, it is unmatched. Can see it way better in direct sunlight than those other brands. There is really not anything close to this. If they ever put this on a 10″ screen, I think they will pretty much destroy every other brand on the tournament trail. Down imaging is very clear. Shows me things I didn’t see on my H’bird. I don’t really miss the side imaging aspect, b/c the down imaging is plenty good.
Mapping: I got the version with the Navionics card. It works just like I expected it to. It doesn’t have the crazy graphics of the Lowrance HDS units, but I am pleased nonetheless.
Functionality: very intuitive. like working an ipad. took about 5 seconds to figure it out.
Mount: the mount is a little clunky, but it is firm. I got tired of taking it off / putting it back on for every trip, so I just left it on the mount.
Overall: incredible value. There is no need to spend the $ required to get the big Lowrance & Humminbird units. Raymarine has been making saltwater units for many years, so they are not new to this game. The Dragonfly has reinvented what it means to have a fish finder.
