Well, let’s just say I haven’t and won’t be going back to the Garmin provided cord I found a week after I updated the maps. This cord fit my GPS perfectly, which is one thing I was nervous about, and the 6 ft length is amazing. To just plug it in and not have to hold it a certain way to keep it connected is amazing.
If you are looking for a cord that will fit the Garmin Nuvi 40LM this is the cord for you.

June 23, 2016Good cable, and works for more than just GPS devices.,
So what they’re trying to tell you is that this cable won’t charge your tablet or GPS if you only use a phone’s charger (which is only 5 watts and 1 amp), you need a charger that can supply enough power through this cable. Meantime, you can use this cable to power other devices that have the mini USB plug, even if all they need is 5 watts and 1 amp, and you use a 1 amp charger. For example, i’m using it to power my dash camera which only needs the 1 amp. I was glad i found it because 12 ft cables are hard to find – i didn’t want a 15ft one and have to coil up 3 ft worth when i hard wire my camera.
I can’t speak to its durability yet, but if it dies on me, i’ll be updating this review.
