April 26, 2013Update Appreciated,
The Garmin GPS continues to give the needed service – get us where we want to go. These updates are invaluable for the purpose, as we live in Mexico, and directions people give are usually of the, “turn left at the red mailbox” variety.

April 26, 2013Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2012 Map Card,
This card worked great for me. Dropped it into my Oregon 450t and I can now use it for road navigation to get to the trail head as well as on the trail.

April 26, 2013Update for Edge 800,
When I discovered the Edge 800 I’d purchased in May of 2011 was able to accept a map card I was hesitant to spend the money. The device in and of itself is quite amazing, however I was recently able to actually see the difference in mapping and navigation abilities with and without the installed map card. Wow! Quite amazing. I usually ride road and rarely do I ride where I don’t know where I am. However, once the card was installed the mapping became much more interactive and added a bit of fun to the end of a long, LONG ride!! Best part….$$$$!!! Garmin sells this map card on their site and it would be sent to my door for nearly $93 after tax & shipping. Not worth it to me. This card, however, was MUCH more reasonable; even better if you’re a PRIME member!!!! The instructions, although simple, aren’t needed. Simply pop the micro SD card in and go!! The device does the work. In the simplest terms, if you wanna do a bit of mapping/navigation/course making upgrade to your Edge, go for it!! I mean, really….you’ve already made a substantial investment in the unit, why not spend a couple $$s and have some fun!! I can’t wait to get this on the Mountain bike in the local foothills….that should be interesting!!!! Next task: Motorcyle trip with the Edge 800!!!!
