August 31, 2016It works,
Some ideas:
1. I bought another microsd for saving the tracks along with the original micosd. I found that the tracks are great for going to repeated places. It takes some effort to get the tracks right. It means carefully navigating with the chart but then you are done with the charts. Now all I do is fill in with a track in areas we have not traveled. One thing you should have is a pair of tweezers when you are switching sd cards in order to save the tracks or other info. Otherwise you need super fingernails. Doing this is quite delicate.
2. Waypoints do not mean much on a lake. The GPS does not lay down a path like in a car.
3. I remove the Dragon when finished with the boat. I kept the original plastic screen protector and I put that back on with the rubber band supplied. This way I do not mess up the screen with my hands. I also use lens paper when wiping the screen.
4. When you first begin to use the device you should sit for a while in the boat and read the online instructions. I made a few notes before going to the boat. After a bit of time you will know how to use it. Switching screens comes with a little practice.
5. I had my marina install the device. I can no longer lay on my back and do such things. But I do think it would be easy to do the job. They put the transducer on the rear left bottom pontoon.
6. It is easy to remove the device from its cradle.
